  2. POLISH NATIONAL LIBERATION COMMITTEE
    (POLSKI KOMITET WYZWOLENIA NARODU)
  3. TEMPORARY GOVERNMENT OF THE POLISH REPUBLIC
    (RZAD TYMCZASOWY RZECZYPOSPOLITEJ POLSKIEJ)

25 GR. STAMPS ARE SURCHARGED 1 ZL. K.R.N., 2 ZL. P.K.W.N. AND 3 ZL. R.T.R.P.

BRITISH PRIME MINISTER W. CHURCHILL ANNOUNCES IN THE BRITISH PARLIAMENT THAT BRITAIN WILL NOT GUARANTEE POLISH BORDERS.

SOVIET GOVERNMENT IN MOSCOW RECOGNISES TEMPORARY GOVERNMENT, CREATED BY THEM, AS A NEW POLISH GOVERNMENT AND EXCHANGES DIPLOMATIC REPRESENTATIVES.


JULY

NEW ZEALANDER, FLIGHT LT. S.G. CULLIFORD, FLIES TO POLAND AND LANDS NEAR TARNOW. HE BRINGS BACK MR. T. ARCISZEWSKI, FUTURE PREMIER OF POLAND, WITH THE PLANS OF GERMAN V1 AND V2 ROCKETS CAPTURED BY THE POLISH HOME ARMY.

POLISH RESETTLEMENT CORPS

BRITISH GOVERNMENT ESTABLISHES POLISH RESETTLEMENT CORPS. POLISH SOLDIERS ARE GIVEN THREE CHOICES:

  1. SETTLE IN BRITAIN AND SIGN A TWO YEAR CONTRACT OF REGULAR SERVICE WITH THE BRITISH ARMED FORCES
  2. EMIGRATE
  3. RETURN TO THE COMMUNIST POLAND

SOME 300,000 PERSONNEL OF POLISH ARMED FORCES WERE PROCESSED BY THE RESETTLEMENT CORPS.

THE ABOVE STAMPS WERE PRINTED BY “I.P.S.OFF. CARTE VALORI – ROMA” IN 1946 FOR USE BY THE MEMBERS OF POLISH RESETTLEMENT CORPS IN ITALY. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE OF OPINION WHETHER THE ABOVE STAMPS WERE PROPERLY AUTHORISED BY THE ALLIED COMMISSION IN ITALY.
