ABOUT

ON SEPTEMBER 1ST, 1939, GERMANY ATTACKED POLAND AND THE SECOND WORLD WAR STARTED. THE WAR WHICH BEGAN IN DEFENCE OF THE INTEGRITY AND INDEPENDENCE OF POLAND, ENDED IN DEPRIVING HER OF THAT INDEPENDENCE AND PLACING THE COUNTRY UNDER THE CONTROL OF AN ALIEN POWER.

IT IS MY OBJECTIVE TO SHOW THE INVOLVEMENT OF THE POLISH ARMED FORCES IN VARIOUS MILITARY CAMPAIGNS AS A MEMBER OF THE ALLIED FORCES. MY SECOND OBJECTIVE IS TO SHOW HOW POLAND, A PARLIAMENTARY DEMOCRACY IN 1939, WAS COERCED BY 1945 BY HER WARTIME ALLIES, TO BECOME A COMMUNIST TOTALITARIAN STATE.

In Memoriam

Roman Skulski

It is with deep regret that we advise you that

Roman Vladimir Skulski

passed away on March 30th, 2008. Roman was born April 15th, 1921 in Stryj, Poland (now a part of the Ukraine). He established this site in 2002, and dedicated many years of his life to sharing his knowledge of Poland’s history.

Previously, this site had 22,000+ hits but, unfortunately, this data was lost in a 2017 site migration.

Visitors can read Roman’s personal wartime diary and memoirs describing his conscription into the Russian Red Army and subsequent escape here.
