ON SEPTEMBER 1ST, 1939, GERMANY ATTACKED POLAND AND THE SECOND WORLD WAR STARTED. THE WAR WHICH BEGAN IN DEFENCE OF THE INTEGRITY AND INDEPENDENCE OF POLAND, ENDED IN DEPRIVING HER OF THAT INDEPENDENCE AND PLACING THE COUNTRY UNDER THE CONTROL OF AN ALIEN POWER.
IT IS MY OBJECTIVE TO SHOW THE INVOLVEMENT OF THE POLISH ARMED FORCES IN VARIOUS MILITARY CAMPAIGNS AS A MEMBER OF THE ALLIED FORCES. MY SECOND OBJECTIVE IS TO SHOW HOW POLAND, A PARLIAMENTARY DEMOCRACY IN 1939, WAS COERCED BY 1945 BY HER WARTIME ALLIES, TO BECOME A COMMUNIST TOTALITARIAN STATE.

Roman Vladimir Skulski
passed away on March 30th, 2008. Roman was born April 15th, 1921 in Stryj, Poland (now a part of the Ukraine). He established this site in 2002, and dedicated many years of his life to sharing his knowledge of Poland’s history.
